PRINCIPLES

Y Skills Institute develops its own body of knowledge as a unique combination of practices from different disciplines.
Some of them are listed in this section to describe the context of our research areas.

Real Nature of Learning

Do you still think that learning is just remembering? This illusion leads you down the wrong path, and it’s time to dispel it. We need to become aware of the basic mechanisms and processes that are involved in the learning process, and start using them to ensure outstanding results in our endeavors.

Learning a theorem or a physical law doesn’t mean that one can apply it, or even fully understand it. Not so long ago, bright students were considered to be the ones who could memorize and store a huge amount of information (e.g. facts, rules, etc.) and then recall it on the appropriate occasion. However, times are changing, and it isn’t enough to be just good recipients of data; it’s also vital to be judges, explorers, and creators.

Learning a skill is a much more diverse process than simply remembering, and we usually don’t realize the complexity of learning — which, in fact, becomes gripping and even easy if to improve the quality of thinking. The learning process is like a body which properly functions when it is healthy, or is in bad shape when we don’t take care of it.

The most important thinking skills that we can develop are:

So let's start taking care of the learning process – to learn how to learn. Learning is not drilling. Our modern world requires us to be real experts in our fields. And becoming experts means working hard and continuously improving ourselves.

It’s not easy to succeed in such improvements while we are busy all the time — having problems at home, being buried with work, and stuck with dozens of chores that we can’t put off any longer. Don’t waste your time trying to figure out by yourself what to do, how to do it, where to find useful and relevant information, and so on. Y Skills Institute is here for you. We are ready to help everyone acquire the thinking skills that will be the solid foundation of any ‘building’ you want to put up.
